Job DetailsJob LocationCorporate HQ La Verne - La Verne, CASalary Range$20.00 - $26.00 HourlyDescriptionSUMMARYThe position is responsible for assisting a certified teacher in implementing a multi-sensory individualized educational plan (IEP) for each student with disabilities in a self-contained classroom with twelve to fourteen students.. The positon is responsible for implementing behavior plans for all students assigned and tracking data for the Behavior Analyst to modify for interventions and IEPs.ESSENTIAL DUTIESSupports the assigned classroom teacher with classroom documentation and creation of studentmaterialsEnsures every student has a working behavior plan written by the BCBA and implemented by the behavior technician to include: measurement, assessment, skill acquisition, behavior reduction, documentation, reporting and professional conduct.Works with students in a one on one setting to reinforce instruction and help students learn academic and functional skillsReports progress regarding student behavior and performance to teacher/BCBASupervises students alone while the teacher is in an IEPParticipates in the maintenance of individual and classroom records including progress reports, behavior plans and records and daily attendance records in accordance with school policies; ensures confidentiality is maintained.Helps creates instructional bulletin boards, work areas, and other materials displayed in accordance with lesson themes, activities, and seasons.Implements behavior plans and interventions throughout the school day with assigned students.Responds appropriately to incidents and problems as they arise among the students in order to de-escalate them as quickly as possible; uses proactive and crisis intervention skills in communicating with child/ren; participates in physical interventions as necessary, in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.Attends and participates in faculty meetings, in-service programs and workshops to maintain professional knowledge and skills and keep informed as to Agency policies and programs that may impact on students; attends CPI/TCI training and utilizes its techniques and meets requirements of a registered behavior technician.Assists in maintaining health and safety of students by being aware of environment and the potential of student actions; assists the teacher or specialist according to established guidelines and procedures.Assists students by providing behavioral examples, implementing continuous measurement procedures, using reinforcement and various teaching methods, displaying values and morals, providing emotional support, a friendly attitude and general guidance; assists in directing group activities of students at lunch and other times.PHYSICAL ACTIVITYIn the course of performing this job, the incumbent typically spends time standing, walking, sitting, listening, speaking, reading and writing.QualificationsQualifications:48+ College Units completed preferredMust complete a 40-hour training and competency exam on applied behavior analysis or be RBT certifiedWorking knowledge of child guidance principles and practices, basic academic subjects, including arithmetic, oral and written communication skills; safe practices in classroom activities, record-keeping techniques and health and safety regulationsPrevious experience working with children with autismAbility to pass Pro-ActTrainingAbility to pass CPR Training
