Job DetailsJob LocationRosewood - Cheektowaga, NYPosition TypeFull Time, 12 MonthSalary Range$48,496.50 - $79,560.00 Salary/yearDescriptionBuffalo Hearing & Speech Center is seeking a full time Speech Language Pathologist for our Rosewood school-age special education program in Cheektowaga. This is a year-round position that will include working our 6 week program in future summers. The SLP is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for students (grades K-2) with communication disorders in an educational setting. In addition, responsibilities include the implementation of appropriate Speech-Language Pathology instruction designed to teach, habilitate or rehabilitate the communicatively impaired student.Essential Functions:
- Imparting knowledge via the implementation of appropriate Speech-Language Pathology instruction
- Display competence in the area of speech-language impairment (either licensed or under the careful direction and supervision of a licensed SLP). Determines type and severity of speech-language impairment, under careful supervision if unlicensed SLP. Determines prognosis and appropriate instruction and treatment for speech-language impairments.
- Evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for individuals with communication disorders. Working collaboratively with other professionals such as the classroom teacher, other SLPs, OTs, PTs, Audiologists, supervisors and other as appropriate.
- Submits written reports of the evaluations, treatment and educational plans, progress reports, and discharge reports as appropriate. Maintain paperwork within legal and agency guidelines. Ensures paperwork is completed in a timely and organized fashion.
- Makes appropriate referrals as needed in order to affect positive therapeutic results.
- Communicates regularly with family/student.
- Exhibit professional judgment, maturity, and upgrades professional knowledge through involvement in continuing education programs. Participate in the delivery of and/or attend in-service programs. Participate in formal staff training. Maintain SLP licensure and TSSLD certification.
- Licensed Speech Pathologists are required to supervise CFYs and TSSLDs appropriately, ensuring legal guidelines and agency policies are precisely followed.
- Any other duty as requested by your supervisor.
Education Required:Master's degree from University/College of accredited speech language pathology programRequired License/Registration/ Certification:
- New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (or CFY eligible)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) (or CFY eligible)
- Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) Initial or Profession certificate or TSHH Permanent certificate
Physical Requirements:
- Physical actions may include, but are not limited to; bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, printing, crawling, and running.
- Vision, speech, tactical and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
- Frequent sitting/ standing and when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.
