  • High School diploma or related work experience
Who you are
  • Experience working with children, particularly in a supervisory or caregiving role.
  • Training: Complete the Bus Attendant training course from an instructional agency approved by the New York State Education Department.
  • Certifications: Obtain an official certificate for successfully completing the American Red Cross CPR and First Aid courses.
  • Patience, reliability, and a commitment to scholars' safety
  • Understanding of the Harlem community is a plus
What you'll do
  • Assists scholars, helping them to board and exit the bus safely
  • Ensures that scholars are seated properly and using seat belts or safety restraints, if available.
  • Provides physical assistance to Students with Disabilities or special needs, including operating wheelchair lifts and securing wheelchairs.
  • Supervises and manages scholars' behavior on the bus and while exiting and entering the bus.Ensures compliance with school policies and safety guidelines.
  • Reports any incidents or misconduct to the school administrative team.
  • Assists the driver in safety procedures, including evacuating scholars during drills or an actual emergency.
  • Administer basic first aid if necessary and report any health issues or injuries to appropriate personnel.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians, school administration, and the bus driver regarding any concerns related to scholar behavior, safety, or health.
  • Provides updates on any issues or occurrences that occur during transportation, including any delays in transportation service.
Schedule
  • Monday - Friday
  • Morning Shift: 6am - 8am
  • Evening Shift: 3:45pm - 5:30pm
  • Must be flexible throughout the school year-priority will be given to candidates who are available to work both shifts
