We truly are the Hidden Gem of the Foothills!Job SummaryPrimary Function: Under supervision of the Superintendent or designee to operate a daily assigned school bus on an assigned transportation route for the school district.Job Description / Essential Elements: BP 4219.22 BUS DRIVER Class Definition: Under supervision of the Superintendent/Transportation Director to operate a daily assigned school bus on an assigned transportation route for the school district. Duties and Responsibilities: •Provide daily school bus transportation for district students to and from destinations, to include field trips and special events •Perform pre and post bus inspection activities to ensure proper operation conditions, adherence to prescribed Department of Transportation standards, and compliance with proper safety standards •Maintain bus evacuation plan and coordinate bus evacuation activities as appropriate •Transport students according to established routing sheets and ensure maintenance of periodic routing updates •Monitor daily school bus activities to ensure proper student conduct at all times, and adherence to appropriate disciplinary controls •Maintain attendance records, seating charts, disciplinary documentation, and updated student information and communicate via radio dispatch as appropriate •Maintain safe driver designation and applicable physical and dexterity standards •Ensure the safe loading and unloading of students to and from destinations •Perform routine cleaning and bus maintenance activities, maintaining a neat and orderly appearance •Conduct refueling activities, to include maintaining assigned fuel use logs •Report any perceived or potential school bus defects in a time efficient manner to appropriate maintenance personnel •Establish and maintain effective communications and working relations with district personnel, school officials and parents •Drive routes in a timely manner and according to route sheets Minimum Qualifications: •High school diploma or GED •Demonstrate ability to fulfill the dexterity and physical requirements of the work •Ability to successfully comply with safe driver program standards, medical and district certification, and first aide •Ability to obtain and maintain a valid commercial driver's license class A or B with school bus certification Desirable Qualifications: Not Specified.
