INTRODUCTION:
The Bishop of Manchester is the visible principal and foundation of unity in the particular diocese entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocesan Administration Building helps to extend the ministry of the Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description. All employees of the diocesan administration assist the Bishop of Manchester in serving the parishes, schools and institutions of the Catholic Church in New Hampshire.
This position reports to the Director of Parish and School Financial Services but is also accountable to the Superintendent of Catholic Schools.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position primarily supports schools by reviewing school budgets, monitoring performance, providing guidance, assisting schools with loan and grant requests, and providing the necessary financial information to the Superintendent of Catholic Schools, who relies on this information in the regular course of his or her duties. Assist schools with accounting questions, and in the conversion or maintenance of accounting systems on the standard platform.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with the information systems accounting conversion at some schoolsIn consultation with the Catholic Schools Office and local school governance develop, implement and administer local financial policies and procedures in accordance with the School Administration Manual and statutes of the diocese.Promotes and implements coordinated efforts for shared resources, consolidated purchasing and centralized services where prudent and cost advantageous.Works with the school Principal to define annual school financial goals and develop useful and accurate operating and capital budgets.Provides school-level strategies and procedures to foster effective financial practices in the school (e.g. tuition pricing and collection, bookkeeping, expense control staffing, etc.) Assists school principal through their audit/review process and addressing any deficiencies.Provides overall budget monitoring, including all revenue sources. Parishsoft, QuickBooks, or FACTS experience preferredAssist with the implementation of school accounting policiesTravel to work with school staff on occasion and as directedOther duties as assignedENVIRONMENT:

Requirements:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance preferred or equivalent experienceNonprofit experience preferredExperience working for schools in a finance or accounting capacity preferredStrong analytical and reasoning abilities, including planning, organizing, and decision-making abilitiesProficiency with MS Office Suite, with strong Excel skills Ability to produce and understand basic financial reporting and statistical analysisExceptional verbal and written skills Ability to follow written and verbal instruction with minimal errorsAbility to interact and maintain positive relationships with clergy, religious and laity, both within the Diocesan Administration and outside (parishes, schools, other institutions and general public) in a knowledgeable and tactful mannerCapacity to manage multiple responsibilities and activities simultaneously.At least 3 years' progressive financial management experience preferredMust possess a valid driver's licenseThis position interacts with Catholic faithful and clergy on a regular basis.
