Education and ExperienceRequires a high school diploma and one (1) year of clerical experience, preferably in a school setting. At least one (1) year of college level coursework and two (2) years of customer service experience is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Essential Job Functions
- Provides support to the front office within a public school setting.
- Responsible for providing clerical support in the main office.
- Performs journey level clerical tasks in a main school office or guidance unit, with responsibilities which require some previous experience in a school or similar office setting.
- Registers students, processes withdrawals, and maintains student records files.
- Performs attendance and student accounting tasks.
- Serves as administrative assistant/receptionist in a guidance office.
- Schedules appointments for students to speak with teachers and guidance counselors.
- Processes transcript preparation and distribution to colleges.
- Responsible for processing graduation data and scholarship information.
- Schedules conferences with parents.
- Performs a full range of specialized clerical tasks.
- Provides administrative and clerical support to administrators, counselors, and teachers.
- Receives and accounts for student activity funds.
- Processes student records.
- Assists in notification of substitutes as to assignments.
- Assists with processing payroll.
- Types forms, letters, notices, newsletters, receipts, vouchers, reports, and other materials from rough drafts or instructions.
- Files a variety of documents according to established procedures.
- Maintains office supply inventories
- Work is performed under the general supervision of a School Office Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
