PRIMARY PURPOSE: Under the direction of the Director of Guidance and Counseling, the School Climate Specialist will be a vital member of our district's wellness team, overseeing initiatives designed to create safe, respectful, and supportive environments on secondary campuses. This role supports efforts to foster emotional, social, and academic well-being for students, staff, and families. The School Climate Specialist will lead targeted training, oversee anti-bullying and mental health programs, engage parents, and use data-driven insights to continuously improve school climate initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:
- Master's degree in Counseling
- School counselor's certificate
- Texas Principal, Mid-Management, preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Experience in educational program implementation with a focus on mental health, social-emotional learning, or school climate improvement.
- In-depth knowledge of trauma-informed practices, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) development, anti-bullying strategies, and ACEs.
- Strong data analysis skills to effectively monitor program impact and make data-driven adjustments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to lead collaborative initiatives across diverse groups (e.g., students, staff, families, law enforcement).
- Familiarity with local mental health resources and crisis intervention services.
- Preferred experience in overseeing grant-funded programs and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
Experience:
- Two years school counseling experience
