Position Type: Student Support Services/Guidance CounselorDate Posted: 10/1/2024Location: Hinsdale Central SchoolDate Available: 11/14/2024Closing Date: 11/08/20241.0 FTE School Counselor Description: To lead students toward the fulfillment of potential for intellectual, emotional, psychological and physical growth. Responsibilities: - Reports to the Building Principal. - Register new students as determine by summer schedule and throughout the year. - Assist the student in making educational, personal, social and adjustment decisions. - Assist teachers, administrators, other staff members, and the community in understanding the needs and problems of students. - Serves as a resource person in interpreting the school programs and how they relate to individual needs of students. - Works cooperatively with other student personnel specialists: reading and speech teachers, nurse, psychologist and social worker. - Prepares and presents student orientation programs and assists with parent orientation programs. - Provide guidance services to assigned students. - Provide guidance services to students by request from administration. - Assist students to understand themselves as well as others. - Assesses the emotional, social and academic progress of students on a continuing basis, provides progress reports, and hold appropriate conferences. - Participates in the organization and administration of the Standardized Testing Program. - Collects records and disseminates test data. - Determines student eligibility for remedial services. - Works as part of a team to create the master schedule per requests by teachers and administration. - Establishes short and long-range program goals which are consistent with the general philosophy of the school system as embodied in curriculum guides, adopted textbooks, handbooks. - Assists in implementing school-wide policies and rules governing student conduct. - Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administration regulations. - Attends meetings as required (i.e., faculty meetings, parent-teacher conferences, etc.) - Serves on established committees, either on a voluntary basis or by assignment. - Submits annual budget requests to the building principal. - Strives to keep informed of the current educational trends of this area. - Accepts and performs duties and responsibilities not ordinarily associated with the position, in case of emergency or when unusual or unpredictable circumstances arise. - Perform related duties as required or assigned by school administrator or superintendent. Probationary Position Salary Range: $48,242-61,975
