Job Type InternshipDescriptionDepartment: School FacilitiesMentor/Supervisor: Larson Harley / Paola Martinez-FiterreInternship Summary:With the ICP School Facilities, interns will learn the ins and outs of running a photography facility and familiarize themselves with the equipment we use in our spaces, along with important safety and chemical handling procedures. We strive to improve our communication with students in how to use cameras, software, and equipment and intend to work on several projects throughout our spaces to achieve these goals. Learning objectives and skills to be learned: This person will be training to be a technician in our three facilities spaces; Digital Media Lab, Darkroom, and Equipment roomInternship Project Description:Project and goals will be based on the intern's interests as they relate to the three department areas outlined above.Daily duties:Assist with the ongoing projects and maintenance we are working on in the labs and equipment room. For example, help perform an inventory check for all our photography equipment and help repair and adjust machines throughout the darkroom.Learning objectives and skills to be learned:This person will be essentially trained to be a technician in our three facilities.Additional Training and Development:Train to learn how our darkrooms, digital labs, and equipment rooms run in a school. Understand the best practices with the safety, software usage, communication, and equipment we use. The intern will shadow and work directly with the three managers and the Senior Manager of the Facilities.Orientation plan:Department Coordinators in the labs, the Assistant Manager in the Equipment Room, and the Senior Manager of Facilities will be the main points of contact and will monitor all activities. RequirementsIntern Qualifications: Some experience working in darkrooms, digital labs, and/or equipment rooms is preferred.
