Who You Are When students miss class due to health concerns, they are missing valuable instructional time that supports them on their path to college. The School Nurse will serve as the school health program manager, student case manager/direct care provider, student advocate, and school health educator for all students across our 3 campuses (K-12) to support in the effort of maximizing instructional time for all students. Essential Job Functions and Skills •Manages school health services that eliminate or minimize health problems which impair learning while maximizing the quantity of in-class time and promoting the highest degree of independent functioning as possible by doing the following: Identifying the health care needs of specific student populations and the availability of health services/resources Planning and implementing services to meet health care needs, including but not limited to dispensing daily and as-needed student medication per doctor's orders Assessing and evaluating the effectiveness of the services and health care plans •Communicates with the health department concerning communicable diseases •Collaborates with a wide variety of school systems and professional disciplines to enhance the educational process and the promotion of an optimal level of wellness for students, families, and staff through general school health activities: oChronic health management oTelemedicine appointments oVision/Hearing Screenings oStudent Health Assessments oDental screenings and on-site clinic oBasic first aid oImmunization Documentation and support •Any other student health related activities as determined by the School Nurse or administration •Functions independently under state and agency guidelines and policies without on-site nurse supervision •Plans, coordinates and supervises the work of unlicensed personnel •Uses good nursing judgment to triage situations and act appropriately •Able to multitask in a fast paced environment and maintain excellent organizational skills •Communicates professionally and effectively with students, families, staff, and medical health professionals •Collects data to direct evidence based practice •Performs basic computer operation tasks •Accurately records services rendered and interprets and explains records, reports, activities, health care plans, accommodations and medical interventions through end of year state reporting •Identifies health related barriers to learning (i.e., at risk behaviors, financial, cultural, economical, etc.) and takes appropriate action to assist students and their families in removing those barriers •Maintains confidentiality of school and health related information The Fine Print • Required : All candidates must be a Registered Nurse (RN). A Bachelor's degree is preferred but an Associate's degree is required. • Preferred : Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Registered Nurse. • Preferred : Prior experience working with young children and adolescents (ages 5-18). • Salary : The salary ranges from $46,000-$71,000 based on experience, our nurse pay scale can be found here . In addition, we are currently offering a$1,000 signing bonus for this position. •Benefits:Henderson Collegiate offers a full benefits package. The School Nurse is a full time employee of Henderson Collegiate, with working hours of 7:20am to 4:15pm.
