Duties
Assists the School District in providing the fullest possible educational opportunity for each student by minimizing absence due to illness. Create a building/District climate of health and wellness.
Responsibilities:
* Attends and participates in IEP meetings
* Prepares and submits health data and reports including health histories as required
* Participates with administration and school staff in developing and implementing the total school health program
* Conducts and/or supervises school health screenings
* Supervises identification and referral of students in need of medical and dental care
* Consults with parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics and other agencies on school health matters
* Observe students to detect health needs
* Assists in the development and maintenance of school health policies
* Visits student homes when necessary
* Supervises exclusion and re-admission of students with infectious and contagious diseases
* Provides in-services and advises teachers on health matters, as needed
* Conducts health instruction in the building and other health topics as requested
* Administers any medical treatment and/or medication given to students while attending school
* Complies with federal, state and district policies and procedures pertaining to health issues
* Assumes other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications
* Must possess active IL Registered Nurse License
* Must possess a Type-73 IL Certificate with School Nurse Certification
* Must be CPR/AED Certified
* Excellent communication and organizational skills
