An education network in New York City is currently seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join one of their preschools as a School Nurse. In this role, the School Nurse will be responsible for providing evaluation, diagnosis and therapeutic intervention.Responsibilities:The School Nurse (RN) will be responsible for:
- Arrange medical services for persons served and issues medical referrals, as needed
- Provide follow-up on medical recommendations and prescriptions for persons served
- Conduct training for staff in personal hygiene, basic first aid, dental hygiene, infection control, adaptive equipment, vital signs, signs and symptoms of illness and other in-services as may be necessary to meet needs of persons served
- Handle control of communicable diseases and infections through identification and assessment
- Monitor required staff health records in accordance with regulatory agency requirements
- Provide immediate first aid and referral to outside emergency services or Private Physician
- Prepare and maintain medical documentation on each person served as needed.
- Administer medications; supervise storage of medications
- Perform other related duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of Nursing experience in the delivery of Community-based health Services to individuals with Developmental Disabilities
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Knowledge of equipment typically used by persons receiving services, including wheelchairs and adaptive devices
- Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
- Patient oriented
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
