The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Biostatistics in the School of Public Health is inviting applications from outstanding candidates for multiple full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor (12-month appointments with rank and tenure status commensurate with qualifications).

Faculty will be expected and given the opportunity to develop their own independent line of research. In addition, substantial opportunities to collaborate and publish with other established investigators will be offered. This is an excellent opportunity to expand one's career into one of the most rapidly progressing and in-demand areas of scientific research.

Founded in 1978, the UAB School of Public Health has grown to 84 full-time faculty and 1243 students (in the 2021-22 academic year). In 2022, the School received $38.7 million in research grants and contracts and ranked 22nd in NIH funding among all 65 schools of public health. Diversity is one of the school's values and strengths, with 48% of students identifying as a member of an underrepresented racial/ethnic group and 16% identifying as first-generation college students. Diversity is also one of the core values of the Department of Biostatistics and is essential to achieving excellence in research and education. Required Qualifications

Candidates must have a background in biostatistics research methods, clinical trials, or statistical genetics research, a doctoral degree in biostatistics, mathematics or related, and a demonstrated ability to apply these techniques to biostatistics research. Proven ability to conduct innovative research is required. A successful track record of publication and collaboration as part of a research team is essential. It is expected that the successful candidate will cover a portion of their salary through participation in funded research collaborations or public health practice and will engage in service activities to the Department and School, including advising students' practicum experiences and serving on thesis/dissertation committees. Graduate level teaching (minimum 1 course per year) is required.
