Thacher Montessori School in Milton is looking for a part-time Custodian to work with the Custodian team to complete daily cleaning and maintenance of the school building and grounds.

The position is five days per week for fifteen hours. Before school opens or after the school day is over.

Located within a half-mile of Boston city limits, the school enjoys a rich cultural and geographic diversity in a natural setting, lying between a 7,000-acre nature preserve and The Wakefield Estate, a 23-acre arboretum with livestock and specimen gardens. Each of our 9 classrooms in a 1989 building designed for Montessori schooling is led by a Montessori trained guide, assisted by a second faculty member and, at the elementary and adolescent levels, specialists.

**Custodian Job Responsibilities**

* Keeps the building and property in clean and orderly condition

* Follows daily cleaning schedule

+ Monitor cleaning and bathroom supply inventory and coordinate product ordering with the CFO

+ Respond to cleaning and minor maintenance/repair requests or report more significant repair needs to the Chief Financial Officer

+ Clean all bathrooms and wash floors and baseboards

- 5 individual classroom bathrooms

- 4 boys/girls bathrooms

- 4 individual adult bathrooms

+ Sweep and mop all vinyl tile floors

+ Vacuum carpeting and doormats

+ Remove trash and recycling to dumpster

+ Refill soap, toilet paper, and paper towel dispensers in bathrooms and kitchens

* Ensures that Thacher is a safe and clean facility for staff and students

* Performs routine maintenance activities, including painting, repair, and floor resurfacing

* Responds to maintenance requests from staff

* Moves furniture and equipment as requested for seasonal preparation

* Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuums floors

* Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers

* Dusts furniture, walls, baseboards and equipment

* Shampoos carpets and rugs

* Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures

* Follows procedures for the safe use of cleaning fluids and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures

* Maintains and sweeps school entrance ways to help maintain a welcoming environment

* Shovels snow, applies ice melt and works with snow contractors to ensure a safe parking lot, and safe access to the school

* Respond to grounds issues, including watering, weeding, and maintenance, and work with the landscape contractor to resolve any ground issues

* Other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer, Assistant Head of School or Head of School.

The successful candidate will need to complete a CORI and fingerprinting

background check.
