SCHOOL PATROL OFFICER (CROSSING GUARD) - POLICE DEPARTMENTCITY OF GALLATINThe City of Gallatin is currently accepting applications for School Patrol Officer in the Police Department.Duties include: controlling traffic flow into and out of school zones when school is in progress.Employees normally will work 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon Monday thru Fridaywhen schools are open. This position does not include any City benefits. Rate of pay is $40.00 per dayfor working both periods.PURPOSE OF POSITION:Work performed in control of traffic flow into and out of school zones and enforcing traffic regulations when school is in progress and performing related work as required; work is performed under regular supervision.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Directs traffic at assigned school zones for one hour at the beginning and ending of each school day.2. Operates school zone lights (if applicable).3. Gives verbal warnings to motorists exceeding posted speed limits, etc., in school zones while on duty.4. Appears in court off duty when warrants have been issued.5.
