Position Type: Security/Security - Seasonal Date Posted: 9/18/2024 Location: Highlands - All Buildings Date Available: As soon as possible Closing Date: Until Filled SCHOOL POLICE OFFICERJob Summary: To provide law enforcement to district schools and protect students, employees and property in order to create a safe and secure learning environment. Essential Functions: - Provides diligent patrol to district schools and property in order to deter crimes against students, staff or property. - Enforces Pennsylvania Crime Codes by making arrests or issuing citations for violations on school property. - Responds to emergencies at district buildings or on school busses. - Acts as liaison between the district, local communities and local law enforcement agencies. - Enforces school district residency attendance, rules and policies. - Conducts investigations of residency and truancy cases. - Prepares related truancy citations, as required. - Conducts investigations of crimes and cases of employee misconduct, ensuring that evidence is collected and preserved. - Provides supervision of students' behavior, including arrival and dismissal. - Contributes information, as necessary, to disciplinary referrals, reports and logs. - Monitors traffic and parking on and around district property. - Performs in accordance with school policy, administrative regulations, state and federal laws. - Provides for the safety and security of students, staff, visitors and property in accordance with policies. - Reports concerns and incidents, which may require corrective action to the Principal. - Assists school administrators with investigations as assigned. - Separates students involved in altercations and maintains crowd control as needed in accordance with established guidelines regarding the use of force. Education Level: High School Education Details: Act 120 or Act 2 Basic SRO authorized by PDE Experience: 2-3 Years Experience Details: Police or Security Experience Experience with technology that is compatible with district-wide systems and a data management system Work Schedule: The School Police Officer position is understood to be a full-time, school-year position, which requires a minimum of eight hours work each day, five days per week, or 195 work days per calendar.
