Every one of the state's 500+ local school districts is part of an ISD. The EUPISD is a regional education service agency with the primary function to provide or assist our local districts to provide special programs and services. Within our ISD, there are 19 districts covering 4,000 square miles in three counties and part of another in the eastern end of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The total number of PK-12 students is 6,500. The EUPISD is funded with a combination of local, state, and federal funds. The voters of EUPISD have approved a 1.75 mill levy for special education, a .2 mill levy for general operations, and 1.0 mill levy for vocational education. State aid received is based on annual authorizations from the state legislature. Our current budget is $35 million. The EUPISD currently has 210 employees/contractors providing services to our local districts and students. The EUPISD serves local districts by providing educational services and support in special education, curriculum, early childhood, career and technical education, professional development, business services and technology. The EUPISD also pursues business, community, and interagency collaboration. The EUPISD has a long history of collaboration with our local districts that has resulted in the creation of a strong infrastructure in support of all aspects of teaching, learning, compliance, and fiscal management. Purpose of Position: The School Psychologist will have coordination responsibility and provide school psychological services in accordance with the EUPISD Plan for Special Education Programs and Services Period of Employment: 190 days per school year Minimum Qualifications:
- Receive and maintain current approval/certification as a School Psychologist in Michigan
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Function as a member and/or coordinator of a Centralized Evaluation Team (CET), Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET), Student Assistance Teams, and Functional Behavior Assessment Teams in assessing the specific needs of children
- Conduct initial and three-year comprehensive evaluations of referred students
- Conduct Risk Assessments and Mental Health screenings
- Interpret diagnostic findings to school and other concerned professional personnel, parents, and when appropriate, the student
- Serve as a consultant to local school staff, parents, social service agencies, child study teams, and others involved in identification and clarification of student's educational support needs
- Consult with staff and assist in planning therapeutic interventions for students
- Serve as a regional contact for concussion baseline testing
- Provide professional development to regional staff to include diverse topics such as Multi-tiered Systems of Support, Reading and Behavior Interventions, and Mental Health Supports
- Assist in the coordination of referrals for placement and diagnostic services not available within the service area
- Serve as a member of the regional school-based crisis response team.
- Provide crisis intervention when a student-level emergency interventions (outside behavior plan) are needed
- Complete all evaluations, reports, and required documentation in a timely manner consistent with EUPISD guidance documents
- As needed for completion of duties, attend meetings outside of normal working hours and travel throughout the Chippewa, Luce, and Mackinac counties

- Remain free of substance abuse and/or illegal drug use at all times
- Other duties as may be assigned by the Director/Supervisor of Special Education
