Job Description:
FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT, STATE LAW REQUIRES A STATE AND NATIONAL CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK AND A CHILD ABUSE/NEGLECT (CAN) CHECK AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.Position Title: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST Responsible To: Director of Special EducationBasic Function: Will provide services to all schools from Preschool to High School.Performance Responsibilities:
  • Provides psychological consultation and/or counseling to teachers, school staff, students, student groups, and/or families.
  • Provides educational consultation services for school staff, students, and families. Provides in-service training or other types if information to all Franklin County Public School staff regarding updates or current information about psychological, educational, or legal issues pertaining to schools.
  • Aids teachers in planning and implementing appropriate psychological, academic, and behavioral interventions.
  • Member of the School-Based Admissions and Release Committee (SBARC). Maintains that Due Process is upheld through the referral, evaluation, and placement processes of specially designed instruction.
  • Evaluate students who are referred to the SBARC for the purpose of determining eligibility for specially designed instruction and/or educational programming. Areas of evaluation include: Cognitive, intellectual, and psychological functioning, educational functioning, developmental functioning, vocational functioning, adaptive, social, and behavioral functioning.
  • Re-evaluate students who receive specially designed instruction to determine the appropriateness of their current program(s).
  • Works with other school staff and disciplines to produce and integrate report/evaluation summary.
  • Aids in developing Individual Education Plan (IEP) for student receiving specially designed instruction.
  • Assists teachers in developing records of all students receiving specially designed instruction.
  • Assisting in the evaluation process for Preschool services. This also includes the aid in transition from preschool to kindergarten.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Kentucky Certification as a School Psychologist.
    • Master's degree in School Psychology.
    Terms of Employment:Regular school year, or ten-month year, with 10 days extended school services. These school days are to be used throughout the school year as needed, as well as after the end of the year for paperwork.Evaluation:Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board policy for Professional Personnel
