Job Description

Act as a Safety and Security Liaison to undertake the surveillance of the COMPLEX cameras and protection of our staff and visitors. The Safety and Security Liaison will be responsible for screening incoming visitors, staff, and students, using our XtractOne Weapons Detection system and screening wands, who enter the front doors for weapons, contraband, and any suspicious behaviors.

Areas of Responsibility

The primary functions of the security officer shall be to:

* Monitor and authorize entrance of people through the front doors.

* Monitor surveillance cameras to identify disruptions.

* Provide assistance to people in need.

* Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and important occurrences.

* Maintain order and establish a presence at the front door.

* Work in conjunction with the school administrative staff, main office staff, and the school resource officers.

* Interface and participate in security training with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Department.

* Communicate effectively with others in stressful situations.

* Use of good judgment in order to quickly identify the best course of action for dealing with dangerous situations as they arise.

* Effectively use two-way radios in a clear and concise manner.

Qualifications:

* Excellent surveillance and observation skills.

* Excellent communication skills.

* Familiarity with report writing.

* Ability to stand for long periods of time.

* High School Diploma is required

Salary:

* Starting Pay at Step 0 is $22,500

* Full Benefits (VRS Retirement, Sick & Personal Leave, & Health Care)

* Alternate Pay Options (i.e., hourly with no benefits) may be considered upon request

Experience Counted Toward Salary Steps:

* Proven experience as a security officer or guard.

* Proven experience as a police officer.

* Proven Military experience.
