- High School Diploma
- Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately to students, staff and visitors
- Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, administration, and parents both verbally and in writing.

- An understanding of adolescents' basic developmental needs for respect, order and structure

SUMMARY The School Safety Monitor will play an integral role in creating and maintaining a warm, welcoming, and safe environment for all students, employees, and visitors. The Safety Monitor will provide supervision of students throughout the building and campus especially in non-teacher controlled environments, the cafeteria, hallways, bathrooms, and school sponsored events. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises the school grounds and building to ensure a safe school environment. Conducts regular building security checks. Locks exterior doors according to the building security plan Patrols and monitors restrooms Assists in the supervision of the cafeteria as assigned Requests authorized passes from non-staff persons in the hallways and reports / documents acts of misbehavior by or the presence of unauthorized persons in the building or on campus grounds Supervises the In-School Suspension room as needed Helps enforce school policies and discipline code Patrols washrooms, parking lots and school buses Patrols and monitors gyms, cafeteria, and hallways during evening events as needed 10. Any other responsibilities designated by the Building Principal or designee Other duties will include:

- Assist in creating and maintaining a safe, orderly and healthy environment which enhances formal learning and related supportive activities
- Monitor and protect the health and safety of all students, employees and visitors.
- Circulate throughout the building regularly
- Promptly report any irregularities, infractions or potential problems observed to the building administration
- Clearly, professionally, and respectfully communicate with students, staff, adn visitors.
- Demonstrate professional behavior and student/employee confidentiality at all times.
- Present an appearance of appropriate dress, cleanliness and hygiene.
- Maintain AED, CPR, and Devereux certifications
- Physical ability to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift objects of a minimum of 25 pounds.
- Experience in managing crowds/group behavior preferred
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; keyboard; use fingers to seize, hold, grasp, and turn; reach with hands; climb ramps and stairs; and speak and hear. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to lift 50 pounds with assistance. Terms of Employment The salary and work calendar shall be established by the Board of Education in accordance with School Board Policy. Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated during the probationary period at 45 and 90 days, and then annually by the Building Principal according to Administrative Policy.
