Other duties may be assigned.
- Identify and comprehensively assess students with potential Emotional Impairment or Autism Spectrum Disorder as defined in the Michigan Special Education Administrative Rules.
- Re-evaluate special education students as required by the Michigan Special Education Administrative Rules.
- Participate in pre-referral types of activities.
- Provide diagnostic/consultative services including intervention designs such as Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plan development.
- Participate in Individualized Educational Planning Team (IEPT) meetings including interpretation of evaluation results and the development of goals and objectives.
- Provide direct or supplementary services to eligible students as determined by the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
- Function as a liaison between home, school and community agencies.
- Continue professional growth through participation in professional development opportunities and professional associations, keeping a record of all professional activities.
- Keep credentials updated and current.
- Provide in-service training to teachers, administrators, and other individuals, as appropriate.
- Operate in a manner consistent with the Bay-Arenac ISD Plan for the Delivery of Special Education and the Special Education Code of Michigan (P.A. 198).
- Participate as a field instructor for students training to become School Social Workers.
- Essential functions of the job are expected to be done onsite.
- Be present in buildings with regular and continued attendance and punctuality.
- Follow all Board Policies, Staff Handbook and Administrative Guidelines.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Masters Degree from a graduate school of social work approved by the State Board of Education for training school social workers; A minimum of a 500 clock hour supervise social work practicum; Have full approval as a school social worker OR eligible, at a minimum, to receive a recommendation for temporary approval from an approved school of social work training program. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS SSW certification, valid Driver's License required. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
