Qualifications:
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university
- New Jersey Certificate as a School Social Worker
- Three years' in Teaching and/or Clinical experience and/or M.S.W.
- Autism/ABA, Life Skills (MD), ED/BD experience helpful
- Required criminal history background check, physical and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status. (CURRENT EMPLOYEES EXEMPT)
Performance of Duties: 1. To assist in the evaluation of children identified as potentially handicapped in accordance with state and federal regulations. 2. To serve as a member of the Child Study Team in working with the parents of referred children. 3. To confer with parents regarding problems affecting student behavior, progress and development. 4. To confer and work with the Pupil Personnel Services Child Study Team, principals, guidance personnel, attendance officer, teachers, and other professional staff members regarding pupils with school-related problems. 5. To follow up team recommendations as requested. 6. To establish liaison with other social agencies for pupils having school-related problems. 7. To interpret in the development and implementation of the Individual Educational Program. 8. To interpret the school program to individual pupils and their parents. 9. To assist in the maintenance of child accounting records. 10. To demonstrate the concept of professional responsibility by presenting a neat appearance and proper decorum to the community by continually displaying a high standard of behavior in the school setting, by maintaining satisfactory habits of attendance and punctuality, and by interacting in a positive way with staff, students, and community members. 11. To maintain official records for every student. 12. To conduct effective interviews and write accurate reports relative to the work of the Child Study Team. 13. To maintain an ongoing and up-to-date awareness of recent trends in education and innovative methods of proven merit that may be incorporated into the program. 14. To maintain continual communication with the Supervisor and Director. 15. To expedite the rules and regulations of the school, the district and the State of New Jersey regarding prescribed conduct for teachers, students, and other members of the school community. 16. To be responsible for the general condition of those physical areas under the direct jurisdiction of the social worker. 17. To be accountable for all those materials and supplies which are provided for the social worker's use to carry on the program. 18. To maintain a professional attitude in all professional relationships concerning school affairs, regulations, administration, as well as students and parents of the school community. 19. To further the cause of good human relations and human understanding by responding positively to the district programs aimed at improving these areas. 20. To be responsive to the student in his/her developmental process by being available, willing, and understanding when dealing with the problems of the individual, where feasible. 21. To participate in child study activities including articulation and development of curriculum in order to provide a relevant and meaningful program. 22. To carry out explicitly the administrative directives of the school and the district in all matters pertaining to the school program. 23. To contribute actively to the planning and development of the discipline area and total curriculum by working cooperatively with the departmental team, school personnel, Supervisor and Director. 24. To engage actively in continual professional growth by participation in workshops, conferences, and in-service programs provided by the district that fall within the accepted practices of the negotiated contract. 25. To develop positive behavioral characteristics that lead to the highest form of human behavior control of self and sensitivity toward others. 26. To avoid sarcasm or reflecting negativity regarding the student, his/her family, or social background. 27. To carry out all additional duties and directives that are requested by the Supervisor and Director which fall within the scope of staff responsibility except if prohibited by the contact.Salary: W.E.A.
