School Social Worker- Part time Youth and School-Based Services Job Summary The School Social Worker (SSW) will assess students and assist with any identified mental health and or behavioral concerns, positive behavioral supports, academic, and classroom support. The SSW will consult with teachers, parents, and administrators as well as provide individual and group counseling/therapy within the school environment. Principal Accountabilities â ¢ Student Support - Assess students' challenges by obtaining, collecting and evaluating information from appropriate school personnel, and meetings with the students, and/or family members. â ¢ Goal Setting/Treatment Planning - Treat students effectively by engaging them in the establishment of goals and objectives in accordance with school policy and the needs of school professionals. â ¢ Record Keeping - Maintain necessary documentation as required, by preparing and completing, in a timely manner, all required records and reports for all assigned activities. â ¢ Scheduling - May work longer hours during school year as needed by school administration, to be used as desired work hours during school breaks as planned with supervisor's guidance. â ¢ Conduct - Maintain standard of the profession by following the principles of professional ethics and all applicable codes of ethics. â ¢ Ambassadorship - Support agency operations by appropriately representing the agency in all forums and by demonstrating commitment to agency philosophy, mission, goals, policies and procedures. â ¢ Compliance - Adhere to standards and requirements of all external accrediting/licensing bodies by attending staff meetings and committee meetings as assigned. â ¢ Training - Share professional knowledge with other staff by seeking out professional development opportunities and sharing new learning with staff. â ¢ Networking/Promotion - Promote the agency by ensuring an understanding of program services available for clients, publicizing activities and accomplishments and outreach with community members as appropriate. â ¢ Security and Privacy - Adhere to agency and client protection policies by regularly acclimating yourself with the JFS privacy, safety and security policies made available within the employee handbook. â ¢ Employee Philanthropy - Participate annually in agency and partner related philanthropic activities and campaigns. â ¢ Mission Dedication - Embody the mission and values of JFS in all work done on behalf of the agency. Utilization of the JFS key strategies will ensure success in this accountability. â ¢ Misc. - Other duties as assigned by management. Minimum Qualifications Experience: Experience working with youth and families Education: Master's Degree in a mental health related field preferred Certifications or Licenses Required: Limited or Full Licensure preferred Minimum Competencies Skills â ¢ Technology - Maintain ability to utilize multiple documentation systems based on location requirements. â ¢ Communication - Express oneself in an articulate and effective manner both verbally and in written communication. â ¢ Effective Reasoning - Deal with abstract as well as concrete problematic people and situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. â ¢ Time Management - Use time effectively by appropriately planning, organizing and scheduling required work hours to meet agency needs. Knowledge â ¢ Continuing Education - Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending agency in-service programs, educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks. â ¢ Child/adolescent development -Posses a high level of understanding of normal and abnormal behaviors throughout developmental stages in order to best intervene in problematic situations. â ¢ Clinical Framework - Understand and apply basic theoretical models and perspectives to successfully resolve student scenarios over short- and long-term periods. Behaviors â ¢ Liaison Role - Act in accordance with the wishes of school administration as to daily tasks and duties. â ¢ Professionalism - Demonstrate effective judgment by making appropriate decisions, as well as conducting and maintaining a professional manner and appearance at all times. â ¢ Teamwork Capabilities - Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
