School Support AssociateOur people are the single most important asset we have in the EVSC. - Dr. Smith, SuperintendentJoin a school district where employees are truly making a difference in the lives of students each day.We look forward to hearing from you!POSITION DETAILS:School Support Associates provide support to the school by monitoring lunch and recess duty, completing light clerical work during the school day, and working in the Extended Day Center program before or after school.Schedule options are available based on the applicant's schedule and/or the needs of the school: 6:30am - 1:30pm10:30am - 5:30pm11:00am - 6:00pm Associates will work in an elementary or K-8 school. School location options will be discussed during the interview process.The position follows the EVSC school calendar.SALARY:$10.40 per hour at 7 hours per day, with a 30-minute paid break included.Hours worked as an Extended Day Center Assistant will follow the salary schedule below: YearHourly Rate1$10.402$10.773$11.184$11.705$12.226$12.48 BENEFITS:EVSC offers four (4) Anthem medical insurance plans. It is a confidential, voluntary service that provides professional counseling and referral services designed to help employees and their family members with personal, job, or family-related matters.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:This position is based upon student enrollment in this school building. Fluctuating student enrollment may make it necessary to move an employee to another school building or reduce hours. Supervise students during lunch and recess.Escort students to and from various areas.Perform clerical tasks.Ability to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer, telephone, calculator, and copy machines.Assist in the planning and implementation of enrichment opportunities and tutoring for enrolled students in the Extended Day Center program.Assist in maintaining discipline and other functions of students.Assist with and maintain a safe and healthy environment for students.Provide childcare for a group of students.Assist in maintaining daily attendance/snack reports in the Extended Day Center program.Receive direction from the EDC Coordinator as to other duties.Maintain good attendance. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Previous experience with supervising students preferred. General office experience preferred.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Must be certified annually in First Aid/CPR.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.Ability to create business correspondence to parents.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to parents, staff, and state and local departments. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, see, and hear.Occasionally required to climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs.Must be able to push items of 50lbs or more, such as pushing materials on a cart or moving/rearranging furniture.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.Regularly required to perform the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times.Required to drive from building to other sites. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level can vary depending on daily activities within the work environment, such as the number of people in the room.The noise level in the ED Center work environment is sometimes loud and is a standard acceptable level for this environment.The work environment requires this employee to be directly responsible for students' safety and well-being.The work environment includes inside and outside areas, exposure to sunlight; risk of getting bitten by animals or insects; exposure to environmental allergens, (grass, weeds, pollens, trees, etc.) and occasional exposure to solvents, degreasers, pesticides, and/or herbicides.The work environment can be interruptive, as the employee must meet multiple demands from many people.The employee must constantly work to meet deadlines.The employee must also frequently work extended hours.
