JOB DETAILSTo assist the teacher achieve teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong desire to work with students in an urban setting
- Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material of skills.
- Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
- Check notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and makeup work, as assigned by the teacher.
- Assist with such large group activities as reading aloud, storytelling, etc.
- Alerts the regular teacher to any program or special information about an individual student. Communicates with classroom teacher about any concerns regarding students.
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of the information about students as is expected of a fully licensed teacher.
REPORTS TO: Principal and Classroom Teacher TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- As negotiated with Lynn School Committee and Lynn Teachers Union/Paraprofessionals Unit.
- 180 days per year
Paraprofessionals starting salary is $21.89 per hour. Additional credits will be adjusted pending verification of additional college credits.
