This position reports to the school building principal and the assigned supervisor.Qualifications:Master's Degree preferredBachelor's Degree requiredNew York Teacher Certification a MUSTAble to improve curriculum and instruction through collaboration as part of a grade level teamPassionately dedicated to school's mission with a steadfast belief that all students will receive a rigorous elementary foundationStrong analytical and problem-solving skills required to develop rubrics, examine data and metrics that will enhance student knowledge and promote performance of superior work productsProven ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with a diverse team of teachers and administratorsKnowledge of adolescent development and demonstrated experience with executing planned lessons to meet the differential needs of each childStrong written, grammatical, presentation, and verbal communication skillsExperience working with at-risk student population in some capacity preferredEducational experience after college (fellowships, summer study, or graduate course work to pursue greater depth in a subject area, specific instructional methodology, curriculum development, special education, technology, etc.) preferredWorking knowledge and comfort level with instructional technologyDuties & Responsibilities:Implement a coherent, research-based curriculum in consultation with Administration and DirectorsPlan, implement, and execute engaging and rigorous daily standards-based lessons to ensure that all students master the required contentCreate comprehensive unit assessments aligned to standards and pacing plansIdentify students who are academically at risk and initiate effective intervention strategiesKeeping abreast of developments and research in the field, and using this to ensure lessons are relevantTeach students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in an inclusion setting and implement IEPs as necessaryDocument all syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, rubrics and other instructional materials and methodsUse consistent school-wide practices and a variety of individualized methods to engage students in the classroomDocument all lesson plans, assignments, rubrics and other instructional materials and methodsUse consistent school-wide practices and a variety of individualized methods to engage students in the classroomUse technology tools for instruction, planning, and communication and ensure student engagementMeasure student achievement and progress towards learning objectives using the school's formative and summative assessment toolsEvaluate academic achievement through detailed data analysis of student performance on a wide variety of metricsProvide ongoing and timely feedback to students on their progress towards meeting expectations and achieving goalsUse student data to reflect on effectiveness of lessons and student achievement progress in order to improve instruction and personal practiceSubmit assessment data and reports to the Principal in a timely mannerCreate, and manage a responsive learning environment that enables students to feel safe, to be creative, and to develop to their full potentialImplement and enforce the school's code of conductOrganize and supervise approved field trips to enhance classroom learning.Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families, colleagues and administratorsDevelop and use rubrics for evaluating student products and performancesOversee and assist with student arrival / dismissalWork closely with all members of school community, model citizenship, collaboration and support of one anotherOther tasks as assigned by the Administration Compensation A competitive compensation package including base salary and complete benefits is available.
