Mitchell College seeks a Science Tutor who will tutor undergraduate students in chemistry, as well as biology, environmental studies, and marine biology. Tutor hours vary. A schedule will be built using the tutor's preferences, within the following parameters: 15-20 tutoring hours are required each week while the college is in session, with hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursdays. Wednesday hours might include assisting a professor in the Chemistry I lab. Tutoring appointments will be offered in-person, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Evening and/or remote hours may be available after a successful in-person trial period. Responsibilities and Duties:
- Tutor students in key concepts
- Review classroom topics and assignments
- Support students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, and research
- Provide students positive and constructive feedback
- Demonstrate academic best practices for specific subjects and assignments
Required Education and Experience:
- Master's Degree or higher in biology, chemistry, environmental studies, marine biology, or related science.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff
- Experience working with students with disabilities at the post-secondary level preferred
Key Skills / Knowledge:
