Scientific Manager, Scientific Services, Patient Centered Solutions (PCS) Overview IQVIA provides scientific services spanning clinical trials, real world evidence, and consulting in all areas of the product lifecycle. The Patient Centered Solutions (PCS) team leads the industry in generating data to ensure that the patient voice is incorporated into the development and commercialization of medication and other drug/non-drug interventions. We focus on understanding and meeting the needs of our clients - mostly life science/pharmaceutical companies - through the application of broad consulting expertise and technical scientific knowledge to design scientifically rigorous research. This research is broad and includes qualitative (e.g. interviews, focus groups), quantitative (e.g. clinical outcome assessments (COAs)/patient-reported outcomes (PROS), preference research) and passive (e.g. digital health technology tools) approaches to understand patient, caregiver and healthcare professional experiences and expectations of disease and treatment. Roles & Responsibilities The PCS team is seeking motivated people with interest and experience in at least one of our core scientific services: COA/PRO research, Preference Research, Qualitative analysis of patient-generated data, Statistical Analysis of patient-generated data, Psychometrics, and Medical and Technical Writing. For the current position, we are looking for someone with relevant experience in at least one of the following:
- Qualitative research - including developing discussion guides, conducting interviews/focus groups, and analyzing qualitative data using appropriate software
- Preference research - including developing vignettes, conducting stated/revealed preference research and analyzing preference data
- Patient-Reported Outcome (PRO) research - including critically appraising and developing PRO questionnaires, and psychometrically assessing and interpreting PRO data
- Medical and technical writing - including writing abstracts and manuscripts for publication, and developing regulatory and payer/HTA submission documents
The current position will also allow the opportunity to participate in other aspects of PCS consulting projects, from design to final presentation. For this, we would like to know that you have some understanding and/or experience in:
- Leading proposal development to deliver insightful, value-added proposals in response to client needs; develops quantitative and qualitative analyses to create client-specific solutions
- Leveraging both primary and secondary data in the development of novel research objectives
- Providing oversight and support to consulting projects
- Identifying business opportunities and potential growth areas by developing plans for long-term objectives
- Providing scientific advice and leadership to ensure that the patient's story is appropriately captured and caveated in research activities
- Using modern and rigorous scientific methodologies to undertake primary and secondary research focused on generating a comprehensive understanding of a disease and treatment paradigm
- Designing, conducting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative research studies
- Leading and producing presentations, as needed, and offering thought leadership for PCS Sciences
- Mentoring, coaching, and sharing subject matter expertise with others to help develop individuals and capabilities delivering world-class solutions for clients
- Disseminating study findings in publications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: For this position, your primary role will be to provide scientific support to internal or client-facing projects. This will allow the opportunity to participate in all phases of PCS projects, from design to final presentation. In addition to the technical expertise/experiences outlined above it is therefore essential that you are able to demonstrate:
- Knowledge of key issues and current developments in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, including an understanding of the healthcare regulatory processes
- Analytical, interpretative and problem-solving skills and strong individual initiative
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including grammatical/technical writing, presentations, meeting and workshop facilitation, business and report writing
- Strong organizational skills and capability in juggling priorities so that deadlines are met while retaining consistently high quality outcomes
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others to accomplish team goals and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients
- An ability to contribute to business development through the identification of leads, development of proposals, etc.

- A track record of leadership and people development
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
Minimum Required Education and Experience: - Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degrees preferred
- A relevant advanced academic social science or statistics degree (e.g. public health, epidemiology, psychology, biostatistics, psychometrics, sociology, medical anthropology, health economics)
- At least five years of relevant experience in consulting/research within the pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry
- Experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience in and commitment to the life sciences and/or healthcare industries
- Fluent conversational and business English (written and oral); additional languages an advantage

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $151,200.00 - $252,000.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time).
