Job Description:

Scientist, Formulation/Drug Delivery | Advanced Manufacturing in Life Science

Summary: AcousticaBio is proud to announce this unique opportunity to join our company as Scientist, Formulation/Drug Delivery. We are a venture- and NIH-funded deep-tech startup spun out of Harvard, focused on solving the greatest challenges in the delivery of novel therapeutics. Our proprietary, Harvard-patented technology revolutionizes fluid processing at the microscale, addressing the limitations of current manufacturing technologies.

For our initial market, AcousticaBio aims to improve the clinical care of millions of patients by reformulating intravenously delivered monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) into subcutaneous injections, disrupting a market surpassing $500B+ by the end of the decade. This will enable patients to self-administer their life-saving medications in the comfort of their home with reduced pain and discomfort, and without the long, costly hospital visits.

The Scientist will work closely with the CEO and leadership team, and they will have full exposure to the internal and external development of our proprietary platform. With a focus on an interdisciplinary team, we believe that true change comes at the intersection of different fields.

Responsibilities:

  • Co-lead the design, development, and successful implementation of novel polymer/proteins formulations by leveraging the acoustophoretic printing platform.
  • Lead the design and implementation of in vitro and in vivo experiments, and perform analytical techniques.
  • Support the design, development, and implementation of a novel, proprietary microparticle production platform.
  • Lead technical interactions with customers, pharmaceutical companies, and experts in the field.
  • Contribute to scientific reports and grant writing.
  • Stay up to date with literature and industry trends, including attending conferences and networking with industry experts.

Desired Experience and Capabilities:

  • PhD in the area of Biotechnology, Drug Delivery, Pharmacy, Biomaterials, Polymers, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 4 years of wet-lab experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience with analytical techniques to characterize proteins, such as size exclusion chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, ELISA, etc.
  • Experience with microparticle-based drug delivery, protein formulations, hydrogel-based systems, fabrications of microfluidics/microparticle manufacturing systems.
  • Strong communication and people skills, preferably in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven scientific writing skills, with a good record of publications and grants.
  • A hands-on, get-things-done mindset.
  • Enthusiasm, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and mechanical assembly is appreciated.
  • Think creatively and analytically to develop comprehensive design solutions and provide feedback to the team.

Who We're Looking For:

A builder/maker/doer/creative thinker. If you grew up playing with Legos (or you still play with them), play a musical instrument, if you've taken acting classes or like to draw or paint (decks or canvas!), if you ever built your own treehouse, cycled or backpacked the world, repaired your motorcycle, assembled your own computer, got your brewing system controlled via a Raspberry Pi…or done anything that gives you joy out of making something – this job and team are for you.

Compensation and Perks:

  • Base salary: $90-110k
  • Competitive equity package
  • 401k with employer match
  • Flexible schedule
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Premium coverage for medical and dental plans
  • Yearly and milestone-based bonuses

Please note: Due to the holiday season, responses to applications may take longer than usual. We appreciate your patience and understanding!
