Job Description

Support the AbbVie Technical Operations Functions and the AbbVie Technical Centers worldwide. Resolve analytical issues associated with commercial and research & development API's and drug products. Provides technical support to cross-functional teams within and outside of MS&T during development, commercial launch or problem solving for a given API or drug product. Accountable for test results, project reports and experiments in support of method development, validation activities and test method transfers. Accountable for maintaining and meeting the highest standards in quality, customer service and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

* Communicates with clients typically from MS&T and local departments about analytical data from various sources, how the analytical data meets the client's needs and the timeline for analytical projects.

* Communicates cooperatively with peers and routinely communicates with supervisor by keeping supervisor informed of results, problems including subtle problems and likely potential problems.

* Develops a variety of analytical test methods (i.e. ID, potency, impurities, solvents, etc.) and routinely keeps the supervisor informed of progress and issues. Recognizes simple technical issues which arise during method development.

* Validates a variety of analytical test methods (i.e. ID, potency, impurities, solvents, etc.) using well known approaches and typical validation templates with occasional (e.g. weeks) input from the supervisor or technical staff.

* Performs test method transfers by recommending typical acceptance criteria, performing the required testing, proactively communicating with the other lab(s) and completing the necessary paperwork and forms.

* Ability to recognize and resolve problems. Draws conclusions from the technical data to solve problems. Supervisor or technical staff provide occasional direction for problem solving and they may provide technical references and resources

* Follows, understands and complies with AbbVie SOP's and policies on cGMP's and safety. Maintains a clean, safe and organized lab area.

* Accurately records own data and results in a timely manner and in compliance with appropriate quality standards. Has own data verified in a timely manner. Verifies others data, protocols and reports in a timely manner, and occasionally reviews others protocols and reports.

* Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner. May assist others in their projects and may direct non-scientists.

* Provides technical support for introduction of new products and API's and for process improvements to existing products.

Qualifications

* BS degree in Science or equivalent; with 3-5 years of experience preferred. OR MS degree in Science or related field; with 1-3 years of experience preferred.

* Has basic computer knowledge and analytical testing experience in wet chemical, physical property testing, chromatography and/or spectrometric methods. Is knowledgeable of basic compliance requirements.

* Has some problem solving abilities. Good organizational skills. Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.

* Can function as a team player. Must be able to work with Commercial Operations to determine prioritization of projects and meet tight deadlines. Use good judgment and make sound decisions. Needs to be adaptable and maintain the ability to be flexible in an ever changing and challenging environment.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

* This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
