Job Description:

Ceres Nanosciences Inc. (Ceres) is engaged in the research, development, and commercialization of innovative sample preparation products, based on its proprietary Nanotrap particle platform. Nanotrap particles capture, concentrate, and preserve the most valuable analytes, enabling early and accurate detection of diseases such as cancer, cardiac, neurological, and infectious diseases, resulting in improved patient outcomes and reduced health care costs.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The Scientist I will work closely with the Senior Scientists and other members of the Applications Team to develop new methods and to generate data required to support Nanotrap Extraction Advanced Technology products for liquid biopsy applications.

In a fast-paced, collaborative environment, the Scientist I will:

  • Assist in the design and development of experiments using Ceres proprietary Nanotrap particle technology for sample preparation for downstream molecular assays.
  • Work independently in the laboratory.
  • Perform DNA/RNA extraction, as well as conduct molecular assays like qPCR, RT-qPCR, digital PCR.
  • Analyze and summarize data.
  • Actively participate in a team-oriented setting in order to solve challenging problems and meet project objectives.
  • Maintain a clear, detailed laboratory notebook to document all experiments and findings.
  • Maintain laboratory records and ensure compliance with safety guidelines including working in a BSL2 lab setting.
  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance tasks such as restocking, cleaning, and updating inventory.

Required credentials:

  • Masters degree, or Bachelors degree with at least 1 year of experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of wet lab experience, preferably in cancer biology related applications or nucleic acid extraction and analysis (i.e. PCR).
  • Strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Able to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborative, positive, creative, quick to learn, and self-directed.

Desired credentials:

  • Experience analyzing and graphing data in a program, such as Microsoft Excel and GraphPad Prism.
  • Experience working with liquid handing handling or magnetic bead-based sample processing instruments.
