This position supports a cross-functional team working toward the design and commercialization of new cell culture media and media supplement products. You will apply your chemistry skills to conduct established assays and play a role in developing novel analytical methods. Responsibilities:
  • Operates autonomously or with limited guidance from supervisors or senior researchers to analyze cell culture media samples.
  • Performs analytical assays on instrumentation such as UHPLC, LC-MS, ICP-MS as needed.
  • Participate in analytical method development, optimization and validation as needed to develop new assays.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain analytical instrumentation (contacting instrument manufacturers when needed).
  • Initiate and/or participate in process improvement projects such as updating processes and/or equipment to improve efficiencies and support business needs.
  • Assist in troubleshooting existing products and work with internal and external customers to implement solutions.
  • Follow all company safety, training, and quality regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate lab notebooks and data records and follow Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Stay up to date with the latest technological and practical advancements in the field of analytical chemistry as they pertain to cellular processes.
  • Regularly communicate plans, actions and results with the manager and other leaders.
  • Advise manager of factors that may affect quality of data. Suggest options / ideas for corrective and preventative actions.
Education
  • Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or other related field: B.S. degree and a minimum of 2 years industry experience, or, M.S. degree. Equivalent combination of education and years of related experience may be substituted.
Experience
  • Requires a functional knowledge of laboratory equipment and techniques.
  • Previous experience with chromatography techniques such as HPLC/UHPLC and LC-MS technology is required.
  • Previous hands-on experience with other analytical chemistry techniques, for instance ICP-MS and/or liquid handlers, would be a differentiator.
  • Previous experience with MS Office apps, especially Excel.
  • Initiative, organizational and digital literacy are very valuable to ensure effective laboratory operations.
  • Must possess self-motivation and the ability to work on routine analysis with no instructions or new assignments with limited instructions.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate scientific results in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
  • Excellent digital literacy with programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to efficiently evaluate and lead multiple project tasks.
Compensation and BenefitsThe salary range estimated for this position based in New York is $66,000.00-$99,000.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
