Position Summary:

We are seeking for a highly motivated Scientist to join the Akoya Reagents Research and Development (R&D) group located in Marlborough, MA. As a Scientist II, you will work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and take part in developing and supporting multiplex fluorescent immunohistochemistry (IHC) Reagents products for use in cutting-edge research. You will be a key contributor in a multi-disciplinary team executing scientific research and product development, who must be able to work independently and as a team. You will have the opportunity to manage and lead projects within the R&D department to develop new reagents product and support existing reagents products.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Independently applies scientific principles to achieve project objectives

* Design and execute analytical and functional assays for new product development and supporting Akoya on-market multiplex Immunofluorescence (IF) reagents

* Identify critical technical issues and develop solutions to improve Akoya's reagent products and their applications

* Oversee and mentor the junior staff members to ensure timely completion of assignments with full data integrity

* Participate in technical transfer with internal and external collaborators and manufacturing

* Collaborate with team members and other project staff to accomplish specific tasks and team objectives within project timelines. Provide timely feedback when dates for individual items cannot be met.

* Provide solutions, recommendations, and product information with a sense of urgency, positivity, and empathy to customers

* Follow company quality policy and safety practices, including training, lab safety, record keeping and ISO or GLP as appropriate

Skills & Requirements:

* To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

* PhD or Master's with 4 years of experience in assay development and biomarker detection.

* A thorough understanding of experimental design, scientific principles, and the ability to perform troubleshooting and propose solutions

* Proficient with a variety of histological techniques including IF/IHC, fluorescence microscopy, image analysis and automated IHC staining

* Knowledge in analytical methods and an understanding of Chemistry is preferred.

* Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment, working on multiple projects with evolving priorities and deadlines

* Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills

* Highly organized with attention to details and excellent information management, time management, and organization skills

The hiring range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000 per year, which may factor in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus (or a sales incentive plan) and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
