Teaching The incumbent will be expected to participate in the teaching programs of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, which includes graduate students as well as medical residents and Pathology fellows. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in teaching of trainees including fellows in cancer biology, hematology-oncology, surgical oncology, pediatric oncology, and radiation oncology. Research Develop and lead a research laboratory in the Legorreta Cancer Center with a focus on disease-specific oncology, including cancer biology and therapeutics, tumor immunology, tumor genetics, mechanisms of metastasis, stem cells, DNA repair, tumor microenvironment including single cell technologies and complete such studies involving human and/or animal models including lower organisms. Additionally, carcinogenesis, drug resistance, and MCED expertise are desirable. Hire and coordinate laboratory research staff. Success in publication of manuscripts and achievement of national reputation. Obtain peer-reviewed funding including NIH, ACS, DoD as well as Foundation funding. It is expected that up to 80% of the incumbent?s time will be devoted to research, and space will be provided. Patient Care Practicing physician-scientists will be expected to spend 10-15% effort on clinical duties in pathology or one of the other oncologic disciplines of hematology-oncology, surgical oncology, pediatric oncology or radiation oncology. Candidate may have a secondary appointment in an appropriate basic science or clinical department. Service Responsibilities The incumbent will be expected to actively participate in all activities of the Legorreta Cancer Center, Joint Program in Cancer Biology and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, the other oncologic disciplines (hematology-oncology, surgical oncology, pediatric oncology and radiation oncology) and The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. The successful candidate must qualify for a full-time faculty tenure-track or tenured position at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor in the Joint Program in Cancer Biology and Legorreta Cancer Center with the faculty position based in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University as a physician scientist or scientist focusing on cancer biology or disease-specific oncology. Applicants should have an M.D., Ph.D., or M.D. /Ph.D. degree and will be expected to have a dedicated commitment to scholarly participation in the research programs of The Warren Alpert Medical School. Candidate may have secondary appointment in appropriate basic science or clinical departments.
