Taylor Hall Pay Grade: Professional Job Description: The Research Lab Scientist and Manager will play a crucial role in supporting laboratory operations and research initiatives for the Dean of the College of Engineering. This position requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, equipment, and safety protocols. Key responsibilities include managing daily lab operations, ensuring optimal equipment function, and providing technical support to researchers and students. The ideal candidate will possess a strong scientific background and excellent problem-solving skills. Job Responsibilities: -Laboratory Operations - Manage the day-to-day laboratory operations; Ensure lab supplies, equipment, and resources are appropriately utilized; Ensure that all equipment in the labs is functioning properly; Develop procedures and guidelines related to safety and laboratory use; Provide laboratory support and maintain lab opening and closing procedures; Provide guidance and recommendations for the time and labor processes of the unit as needed. -Research Support - Collaborate with researchers to understand project needs and provide advanced-level support; Oversee researchers and students who work in the laboratory; Provide training materials and hands-on training for laboratory procedures; Serve as a liaison for all related environmental, health, and safety issues; Develop research experiments methodology in support of the labs activities; Serve as an author on journal publications and related materials. -Other duties as assigned to support the faculty's research. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related experience. Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Chemistry, Materials Engineering or related Nanotechnology field and 10+ years of experience in research. Strong publishing record.
