Scientist - Microbiologist6+ months with high possibility of ext.Work Schedule: 2:30pm - 11pm Wednesday - Sunday 8 hours with a 30-minute lunchLocation: San Jose CA 95134 OnsiteJob DescriptionWe are seeking a Scientist with experience in Microbiology and Research and Development. You will be a key contributor and critical to the success of the company. As part of the Microbiology team, you will be responsible for designing, documenting, and testing instruments, reagents and consumables to help facilitate the timely completion of various studies and support the company's product lines. You will be responsible for executing protocols and writing reports. As part of the Microbiology team, you will execute laboratory functions and help build toward the commercial readiness of our products.Primary Duties:•Perform microbiological testing to support ongoing study protocols as well as testing of new instruments, AST panels, and consumables.•Daily data analysis for completed assays.•Perform initial inspection of incoming consumables.•Process biological specimen samples using aseptic techniques and lab safety protocols.•Coordinating with other teams and departments•Create and present reports on conducted experiments, and failure investigations.•Participation in regular lab operations included running experiments, maintenance, cleaning, and routine tests.•Perform other duties and projects related to lab and department operations as requested by management.•Provide mentorship and guidance to junior scientists and laboratory staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development.Knowledge Experience & Skills:B.S. with 3+ years relevant experience or Master 1+ years in Microbiology, and/ or Medical Diagnostic is desired, 2 years Laboratory experienceExperience working within a fast-paced environment with strong research background and proven proficiency in data analysis, research design, troubleshooting, and evaluation of new technologies and procedures.Experience with the standard tools and methods of microbiology and aseptic techniques such as pipetting, plating, media preparation, bacterial culture, isolation, etcStrong organizational skills, decision-making, communication, teamwork, and troubleshooting skills.Knowledge of aseptic techniques, good documentation practices (GDocP), good laboratory practices (cGLP) and.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex scientific concepts clearly and concisely.Familiarity with a GMP production environment, procedures and processes, ISO 13488 and FDA Quality System Regulations is desired.Clinical microbiology laboratory experience is advantageous.Working Conditions:Typical office SettingLaboratory with exposure to chemicalsLifting (up to 75 lbs) laboratory equipment and supplies and moving containers of various materials.Work involves performing computer applications and standing for extended periods of time.Operating within cool temperature and low humidity conditions within the production room.Constant noise is common due to the operation of the air-dry chamber, taping and pouching equipment.May be exposed to and require the handling of antibiotics and other hazardous materials.May be exposed to odors incurred during media preparation and frozen panel production.Lab work is performed wearing safety glasses and lab coat. Excellent personal hygiene required.Reasonable, reliable attendance and punctuality is an essential job function required for this position
