Shift:Job Description Summary: The Packaging Engineering and Technology Center (PETC) at The Coca-Cola Company is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scientist for Packaging Testing. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive evaluations and analyses of new processes and technologies, planning and executing experimental trials, and developing innovative packaging solutions. This role requires collaboration with internal and external partners to advance our packaging capabilities and enhance productivity through the adoption of new technologies.
What You'll Do for Us- Conduct evaluations and provide comprehensive analysis and reports on new processes and technologies.
- Plan, execute, and document experimental trials; validate through designed experiments to ensure products/processes can be successfully executed/implemented in The Coca-Cola System.
- Work with internal or external partners to secure and develop (novel) advanced methods, processes, testing, or equipment to refine concepts; develop & design prototypes and operating parameters and produce cost estimates.
- Identify, assess, develop, and test new packaging with a focus on innovation, productivity, and enabling technologies.
- Lead complex projects involving cross-functional teams, manage broad scopes, multiple suppliers, and/or team members from partner companies.
- Identify and leverage relevant packaging trends, consumer trends, and technical guidance research along with system capability to develop new packaging formats.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including resin suppliers, converters, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), supply chain, and bottling teams, for the re-application of ideas from the Coca-Cola Global Packaging network.
- Leverages extensive knowledge of packaging materials and related production processes, including material compatibility, supplier processes, standards, and specifications.
- Ability to scale new technology into a viable commercial proposition, from bench to plant.
- Provide end-to-end knowledge of the packaging industry from raw materials, conversion processes, printing, application, and distribution network.
- Demonstrate deep insight into sustainable materials, recycling systems, and the latest technologies as well as general knowledge of packaging materials like PET, aluminum, or glass and their application and conversion processes for beverage application.
- Apply knowledge of carbonated and non-carbonated beverage processing techniques (cold fill, hot fill, aseptic, pasteurization, retorting).
Qualifications & Requirements - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in packaging development, testing, and validation.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Proven ability to innovate and develop new packaging solutions that align with company objectives and sustainability goals.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the latest industry trends, consumer preferences, and technological advancements in packaging.
- Familiarity with different packaging materials (PET, aluminum, glass) and beverage processing techniques is highly desirable.
Skills:Pay Range:$86,200 - $107,000Base pay offered may vary depending on geography, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
Annual Incentive Reference Value Percentage:7.5Annual Incentive reference value is a market-based competitive value for your role. It falls in the middle of the range for your role, indicating performance at target.
