Job Description:
Job Summary:Based at our Plano Global R&D facility, the Scientist/Senior Technician will join the Measurement Sciences (Analytical & QA Sciences) team. This role involves conducting biopolymer analysis, focusing on dietary fiber, beta-glucan, protein, and oil testing to support Client's R&D and operational groups. Key responsibilities include preparing samples, operating equipment, collecting and interpreting data, and troubleshooting instruments as needed. The successful candidate will ensure all data is accurately recorded and reported using a laboratory information management system, while maintaining safety and quality standards.Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with test requestors and managers to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Prepare and maintain chemicals, solutions, and equipment for analyses.
  • Process samples, such as milling, to prepare them for analysis.
  • Perform analyses on dietary fiber, beta-glucan, protein, ash, fat, and moisture following standard procedures.
  • Document testing data in the appropriate online systems and communicate results accurately and promptly.
  • Regularly organize and dispose of samples as needed.
  • Adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and standard procedures to ensure laboratory safety, instrument functionality, and data accuracy.
  • Assist managers in maintaining lab operations, including safety audits.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, Material Science, or related field with 2+ years of laboratory experience.
  • Basic knowledge of food nutrients, such as dietary fiber, beta-glucan, protein, and oil.
  • Strong communication skills and familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel and Word.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to new data recording systems, such as Lab Vantage.
  • Experience with Good Lab Practices and a strong understanding of hazardous chemical safety.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous record-keeping abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Experience operating HPLC or IC equipment.
