Position Supervisor: Ustadza White Department/Office: Learning Center Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour, 0 - 25 hours per week depending on department need, availability of funds and student eligibility. The Learning Center offers two student worker roles: Information Desk Assistant or Peer Tutor.We are currently hiring Information Desk student workers for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays.Information Desk Duties
  • Provide Computer Assistance
  • Assist students and staff with using Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Offer basic support for Adobe products, such as Acrobat and Photoshop, to ensure users can complete their tasks.
  • Study Room Support
  • Help students book study rooms using the reservation system.
  • Provide support for technology available in study rooms.
  • Front Desk and Inquiries
  • Answer incoming phone calls and respond to general inquiries in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Direct questions to the appropriate staff member or department as needed.
  • Equipment Checkout
  • Facilitate the checkout process for equipment such as headphones, VR Headsets, and other items.
  • Ensure equipment is logged and returned in good condition.
  • General Clerical Support
  • Perform clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and organizing materials.
  • Assist with preparing and distributing Learning Center materials or announcements.
  • Maintain a Welcoming Environment
  • Greet visitors warmly and ensure a positive and supportive atmosphere in the Learning Center.
  • Be proactive in offering assistance to those who appear to need help.
  • Peer Tutor 1 Duties
  • Supplemental Instruction
  • Hold weekly study sessions to guide students through challenging concepts and reinforce course material.
  • Review course materials and anticipate areas where students may need additional support
  • Create a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters trust and open communication with students.
  • Peer Tutor 2 Duties
  • Embedded Tutoring in Classrooms
  • Actively participate in assigned classes to support both students and instructors.

Essential FunctionsThe start date, to occur no sooner than July 1st of the current aid year, of this position will be determined by the hiring supervisor after an applicant is hired. This position has a standard end of assignment date of June 30th of the current aid year. Assignment may end sooner or be extended depending FWS eligibility, availability and/or department need.
