Job Description Position: Tailor / Seamstress The Tailor's primary responsibility as a skilled craftsperson is to sew garments, either to repair or alter to our guests taste and to operate sewing equipment Department: Retail Primary Responsibilities: • Perform basic alterations on garments including, but not limited to, sleeves, backs, sides, collars, bodices, shoulders, inserting shoulder pads, altering waists, taking out hem to lengthen, shortening lengths, adding cuffs, adding button holes • Accuracy and attention to details • The ability to measure our guests whether male or female, to insure a proper fit; in some cases, this might require multiple fittings • Excellent hand-sewing and machine skills • The ability to alter wedding gowns and evening gowns • Do minor repairs to garments by replacing buttons, mending seams, and replacing hems • Maintain a professional attitude with sincerity and enthusiasm reflecting The Greenbrier's commitment to our guests: interact professionally with Retail team members • Give advice regarding the fit and care of garments • Maintain accurate records of alterations, in process and completed • Time management; ability to manage tight deadlines • Able to work independently and complete tasks as assigned • Dependable attendance and punctuality Normal Working Hours: 9:00am to 6:00pm, weekends and holidays Past Work Experience Requirements: • Tailor / Seamstress experience Educational Requirements: • High school diploma or GED required Communication Skills Requirements: • Effective written and verbal skills, • Ability to interpret instructional documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Technical Requirements: • Must be able to operate and perform basic maintenance on a sewing machine • Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Able to use a calculator. Required supervision: • Reports to Retail Manager and Senior Tailor *Requirements are subject to change
