Summary:

Maintains kitchen work areas, restaurant equipment and utensils in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties:

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent guest service.
• Scrapes food from dirty dishes, pre-sprays and washes them by hand or places them in racks to run through dishwashing machine. Sorts and presoaks silverware. Cleans and sanitizes pots, pans and trays.
• Keeps dish storage areas fully stocked. Maintains cleanliness and operational readiness of dishwashing machine. Maintains chemical supply for dishwasher.
• Sweeps and mops kitchen floors.
• Cleans and sanitizes equipment, worktables, walls, refrigerators and cutting blocks.
• Segregates and removes trash and garbage and places it in designated containers.
• Steam cleans or hoses out garbage cans.
• Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas. Sets up banquet tables.
• Loads or unloads truck picking up or delivering supplies and food.
• May be assigned other duties, sometimes in other departments, as the need arises to support fellow staff members in achieving the company mission.

Education/Experience Preferred:

• Prior experience and/or training is not required.

Reasoning Ability:

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

• Requires grasping, writing, standing, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing abilities and visual acuity.
• Talking and hearing occurs continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other associates.
• Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
• Required to use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Physical Requirements: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The associate is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and high heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
