The City of Hendersonville is hiring one Part Time, Seasonal, Equipment Operator II position within the Public Works Department. The person in this position will work approximately 20-30 hours a week.
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for performing maintenance work associated with various department projects or assignments.
MAJOR DUTIES
* Performs litter and sign collection in accordance with City ordinance
* Performs tasks associated with grounds maintenance, roadside maintenance, or landscaping projects
* Performs tasks associated with maintenance of park grounds, athletic fields, and recreational areas
* Operates a variety of equipment, machinery, and tools used in department projects and activities
* Transports, loads, and unloads various equipment and materials used in projects or at work sites
* Performs general preventive maintenance tasks necessary to keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in operable condition
* Performs other related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED
* Knowledge of City and department policies and procedures
* Knowledge of safety rules and regulations
* Knowledge of street maintenance and repair techniques
* Skill in the use of hand and power tools
SCOPE AND EFFECT
The purpose of this position is to repair and maintain public right-of-way. Successful performance in this position contributes to clean, safe and functional city right-of-way.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, and uses tools requiring a high degree of dexterity. The work is performed outdoors. The employee is exposed to noise, dirt, dust, grease, inclement weather, extreme heat, and machinery with moving parts. The work requires the use of personal protective equipment.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
This position reports directly to the Public Works Crew Supervisor and/or the Assistant Public Works Director/Road Superintendent.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations
* No experience requirements
* Possession of, or ability to readily obtain, a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Tennessee for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Pay Grade: 9
