Knowledge, Skills & ExperienceThis position is well suited for someone with a friendly and positive personality who is productive and shows initiative, is an effective written and oral communicator, is reliable and safety-minded.Some background in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and general building repairs. Experience in all aspects of pool maintenance including water chemistry is beneficial. Have physical strength and ability to lift heavy objects as required and dig manually with hand shovel as needed. Knowledge of computers and other technological devices.Must Have: A high school degree with some technical training is required. One to three years maintenance experience is required. A valid Illinois State Drivers License is required. Maintain current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification or obtain certification within six months of hire. Essential Functions of the Position Park District Competencies
- Follow all departmental safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of Park Districts safety and risk management program.
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with residents, colleagues, the public, PDRMA and other agencies or organizations as delegated.

Responsibilities
- The Facilities Maintenance Assistant is a position that helps or assists full time facilities maintenance staff with projects and maintenance items, it includes some inspections as well as daily tasks that would be assigned to them.
- Assist with inspections and provide preventative maintenance and repair of all Park District facilities and equipment.
- Assist with completing inspections and maintenance of aquatic facilities, all outdoor lighting and timers, drinking fountains, wells, playground inspections and repairs.
- Maintain organization in work vehicle, shop and inventoried supplies.
- Organize and oversee multiple tasks and duties as required.
- Work varied hours including evenings and weekends
- Operate motor equipment as needed or required.
