The Busser is responsible for assisting the servers in providing the highest quality service possible to guests while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the hours of operation. The Busser/Food Runner must ensure that all tables are kept clean and presentable with clean china, glassware, silverware and linen.
Your Responsibilities:
* Embodies the standards of the Gurney's Brand by displaying professionalism in all forms of communication Demonstrate the ability to lead and build capable teams and be a steward of our culture
* Ensure effective leadership and communication throughout the property
* Promote a positive and safe atmosphere that makes all team members feel comfortable
* Bus tables according to standard, including removing dirty glasses, dishes, silverware, teapots, coffeepots and other serving dishes from tables.
* Assist servers in clearing tables during service and provide service to guests in waiter's absence as needed.
* Clean debris from tables, floors, chairs and side stations throughout shift, using proper equipment, cloths and sanitizer. Reset tables after use.
* Fill and refill water glasses and pitchers as needed.
* Along with co-workers, complete daily opening and closing duties and cleaning according to established side-work checklists.
* Maintain organized and orderly bus areas, bringing cutlery, glassware and plates to and from the dish area as necessary.
* Set up receptacles for trash and dirty linen. Transport clean and soiled linens as required.
* Set for food and beverage service as instructed, i.e.: bread service, coffee stations, condiments, packaging.
* Assist in polishing cutlery, glassware, plates to ensure clean service wares for guests.
* Food runners have full knowledge of all food dishes and can clearly describe all dishes and their components to guests.
* Each associate is expected to carry out, within their capabilities, all reasonable requests by management.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Minimum two (2) years work-related experience.
* High School Diploma, or equivalent level of education, required (Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure).
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to read, speak and interpret documents in clear English.
* Ability to communicate in secondary language is a plus.
* Computer friendly with a strong proficiency with MS Office Programs.
* Able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the area in a timely basis.
* Must be able to multi-task and manage in high volume, and high stress environments. Possess a roll up your sleeves attitude.
* Must have manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
* Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, and stretch.
* Can frequently lift up to 30 pounds, as well as work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours).
* Must be able to work a flexible schedule. (Including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays)
