Seasonal Guest Experience Tour Guide: weekends
Summary/Purpose of Position: The Guest Experience Tours Guide creates a first impression that most guests have of Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. This position is responsible for helping guests with admissions and purchases made at the Front Gate, processing guest transactions, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and educating guests on all aspects of Fossil Rim on safari tours.
Must be 21 years of age
Description of Position: The responsibilities of the Guest Experience Tour Guide include, but are not limited to the following:
* To ensure excellent service (face-to-face and on the phone) with professionalism, helpfulness, product knowledge, and speed.
* Be proficient with Point of Sale Systems and be proven in showing accuracy of sales transactions.
* Be aware of and up to date on our products and pricing policies
* Be aware of and up to date on special events, new animal information, special attractions, and basic operations at FR.
* Adhere to proper cash handling and cash control procedures.
* Maintain a high standard of cleanliness at the sales counter, sales floor, bathrooms, and surrounding areas.
* Maintain Front Gate/ guided tours supplies and areas.
* Trained and certified in the driving of guided tour vehicles and trained in the performance of guided educational based tours.
* Represents Fossil Rim with professionalism and provides excellent service to Fossil Rim's guests.
Experience and Qualities Required:
* Ability to deliver professional, friendly, and helpful customer service to all guests and staff.
* Knowledge of environmental/conservation concepts and/or willingness to learn.
* College degree in natural sciences is preferred, but not required.
* Good customer service skills are a must (cheerful disposition, courtesy, patience, perseverance, etc.)
* Organized and well spoken
* Ability to work with minimal supervision
* Ability to answer guest questions accurately and interpret and deliver animal and park information effectively.
Work Requirements:
* Up to an 18-20 hour week requiring flexibility. Available to work on weekends and holidays.
* Adherence to and understanding of Employee Handbook, Risk Management Plan, corporate procedures and policies, departmental mission and goals, and Fossil Rim mission, values and goals.
* Ability to stand for long periods of time
* Ability to lift up to 50lbs
* Ability to work outside for several hours at a time in weather ranging from extreme heat (100F+) to extreme cold (0F) and in wet conditions.
* 21 years of age or older with a good driving record.
