This lakefront property, nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, is home to an exciting opportunity called Camp S'More. Campers of all ages experience a wide variety of camp activities based on their interest. The Seasonal Maintenance Assistant at Girl Scouts of Western Washington will work as part of a small team responsible for maintaining the property, facilities, equipment, systems, and overall safety and security of Camp River Ranch. This includes tasks such as cleaning cabins and units, performing basic landscaping tasks, assisting with forest management, site coverage and hosting of camper groups, and providing excellent customer service to all camp users, including members, GSWW staff, and volunteers. This position also provides evening, weekend, and overnight coverage on an as-needed basis.While the full range of pay for this position is $20.76 to $25.49 per hour, this position will start at $20.76 per hour for internal pay equity, adjusted for tenure for those previously employed by Girl Scouts. RequirementsEssential Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow the established camp maintenance plan to maintain camp property, facilities, equipment, and systems at the direction of the Camp Property Operations Manager and following health and safety regulations, Girl Scout, and American Camp Association standards
- Perform basic cleaning and stocking tasks for cabins and units upon guest check-out
- Assist the camp maintenance team in various work projects around the camp
- Complete landscaping tasks around buildings, such as mowing grass, and trail maintenance as needed
- Assist in hosting duties while providing excellent customer service to camp users, GSWW staff, and volunteers
- Contribute to a positive image for Girl Scouting by maintaining positive public and interpersonal relations with visitors, rental guests, volunteers, vendors, businesses, governmental agencies, and the local community
- Available to provide guest check-in/unit access as scheduled and upon request of the supervisor
- Respond to maintenance needs as requested
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work outdoors seasonally in aquatic and forestland habitats, including waterfront and upland forested areas, in all weather conditions
- Desire and ability to learn recreational trail maintenance
- Willingness and ability to learn how to work with power tools and equipment, including chainsaws, trimmers, general shop tools, etc.
- Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs. and physical stamina to work throughout camp, including rough terrain and extensive hills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills to ensure effective interaction with individuals at all levels and backgrounds
- Experience safely operating and maintaining power tools and equipment, including chainsaws, trimmers, brush mowers, and general shop tools
- Strong sense of environmental stewardship
- Ability to work safely with chemicals, including paints, chemical solvents, sealers, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, work both independently and collaboratively, take initiative, meet deadlines, and effectively communicate work progress and delays to direct supervisor in a timely manner

- 18+
- High School diploma or GED
- Experience working both independently and collaboratively as part of a small team
- Valid Driver's license for at least 5 years, clean driving record, and ability to drive a 12-passenger van

- Experience working in a youth-focused setting such as day/overnight camp, schools, community centers, or similar setting
Work EnvironmentEmployees are frequently exposed to loud noises, sensory stimulating situations, and physically demanding activities. Employees should feel comfortable with:
- Working outside in all weather conditions including heat, inclement weather, and specific environmental realities (humidity, wind, bugs, lake water)
- Working long hours outdoors with irregular schedules including early mornings, weekends, and evenings
- Demonstrate emotional resiliency and regulation to handle extended, repeated stressful situations appropriately
- Walking over unpaved, uneven, hilly terrain multiple times a day
- Must be physically able to perform necessary duties as assigned for the safety of all campers and guests
- Responding to emergencies including utilizing skills to administer First Aid/CPR when necessary
- Maintaining constant supervision and observation of program participants while assessing risk and participant safety
- If choosing to reside on camp, living conditions will be in a communal setting with limited privacy
