In this role, you'll help ensure safe travel for residents and visitors by clearing snow and applying de-icing materials to city streets, alleys, parking lots, and other public areas.Schedule: On-call, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during snow and ice events.Salary: $23.07 per hour, depending on qualifications.Job Responsibilities:
- Operate snowplows, brine/salt spreaders, and other specialized snow removal equipment.
- Apply brine, salt, sand, or other de-icing materials to roadways and pedestrian areas.
- Monitor weather conditions and respond promptly to snow and ice events, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and maintenance of vehicles and equipment before and after use.
- Report any mechanical issues or equipment malfunctions to the Street Supervisor immediately.
- Ensure roadways, intersections, and parking lots meet city safety standards.
- Follow all safety guidelines and remain aware of vehicles, pedestrians, and property while operating equipment.
- Assist in loading brine, salt, or sand into spreaders as required.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-3 years of prior experience operating snow removal equipment for city streets or highways.
Special Requirements
- Valid Driver's License.
- North Dakota Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker and air brake endorsements (required upon hire).
- Clean driving record.
- Availability for day or night operations, including weekends, with short notice.
