In this role you will: Direct and coordinate all activities in the Production Department necessary for its efficient, productive, and safe operation. Analyze and modify processes for the efficient manufacture of powder coatings by performing the following duties. Responsibilities
  • Promote Axalta's safety culture, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide direct leadership to a staff of hourly production employees.
  • Monitor work progress to ensure adherence to production schedules.
  • Ensure all duties are completed in a safe and professional manner.
  • Meet all production and quality objectives.
  • Responsible for communications up and down the line and for assuring that communications from team members are accurate and complete.
  • Oversee that equipment is properly maintained and cleaned to meet all production and quality standards.
  • Responsible for responding to personnel, operational and safety and environmental incidents.
  • Maintain standards in the areas of housekeeping, safety, attendance, operational discipline, and scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Audit work practices, such as shift turnover, safety inspections, log sheets and housekeeping, to maintain standards.
  • Keep and maintain appropriate logs, and/or records.
  • Coordinate with the support group and finished goods warehouse for timely shipments.
  • Ensure adherence to established operations and safety policies and procedures.
  • Work with process engineering on projects and with QC in evaluation of products.
  • Promote a positive work environment.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide corrective action to employees as needed.
  • Work together with the maintenance department to coordinate the upgrade of our equipment reliability and uptime performance.
  • Directly supervise many production employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, motivating, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; maintaining housekeeping; assuring compliance to safe practices and procedures; assuring compliance to ISO procedures.
Qualifications Required:
  • Associates degree required. Alternately, five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience leading and mentoring teams in a production environment required.
  • Strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills required.
  • Experience working/ collaborating/ leading with little to no supervision.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to obtain thorough knowledge of all equipment and production lines.
  • This is a second shift role requiring the ability to work weekends as needed.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • SAP experience is preferred.
  • LEAN Manufacturing is preferred.
  • Knowledge of 5S is preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt is preferred.
