Duties

As a SECRETARY, you will:

* Research and gather information from a variety of sources when assisting with preparing special studies and reports.

* Type a wide variety of material into final form from handwritten notes or other material which may be difficult to interpret and/or to format.

* Make travel arrangements, schedule transportation and make hotel reservations.

* Act as coordinator and/or assist the staff of the support organizations for visits.

* Provide necessary information for presentations and program participation.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. * Must successfully complete a background investigation.

* Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.

* The work is sedentary. Work requires some moving about the office and transporting of light weight objects.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the GS-7 is defined as one year (52 weeks) of experience at the GS-6 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes:

Reviewing correspondence and documents for grammar, format and completeness; AND

Reviewing and reading incoming mail, correspondence, publications, directives, etc. and routing them for action; AND

Using a variety of automated IT systems to develop reports and perform common office functions such as timekeeping, travel, scheduling, and correspondence control.
