  • Has a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate
  • Has the ability to read and follow written directions
  • Has three years of varied and increasingly responsible clerical or secretarial experience
  • Has the ability to type at a skill level of 50 words per minute
  • Has specialized skills in bookkeeping, basic mathematics, filing, telephone, and computer operation
  • Has demonstrated competency for assigned responsibilities and the ability to work under pressure
  • Has the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Has demonstrated ability or potential to relate to and work effectively with students, staff, and community
  • REPORTS TO: Principal JOB GOAL: To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so that the office's maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Be familiar with and follow written statutes, policies, procedures and directions from supervisor related to job responsibilities
  • Perform the usual office routines and practices associated with a busy yet productive middle school office
  • Prepare and type correspondence for the principal and others
  • Maintain such student records as shall be required
  • Serve as activity fund treasurer
  • Receive and route all incoming calls
  • Serve as receptionist for the principal
  • Maintain a daily teacher attendance log, and records for substitute teachers
  • Monitor time lines that signal school opening, class changing, school closing, etc.
  • Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials as requested and time permits
  • Process all assigned clerical duties assigned by supervising staff members
  • Maintain a schedule of appointments and makes arrangements for conferences and other meetings
  • Maintain a log of visitors to the school
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor
